Introduction

Ben Smith is a Grade 12 student at St. Brother Andre Catholic High School and the Senior Student Trustee of the York Catholic District School Board.

As a member of the Board of Trustees, Ben represents and advocates on behalf of the 55,000 students of York Catholic, and also represents Ontario's 600,000 students in Catholic education as the President of the Catholic Board Council of the Ontario Student Trustees Association.

Outside of school, Ben is a sports broadcaster with Rogers TV, and the Canadian Women's Hockey League. Ben also writes with Vox Media, Metroland Media and HockeyNow Magazine.

He enjoys playing hockey and baseball, spending time with friends and travelling. His dream one day is to host either The National on CBC or Hockey Night in Canada.

Ben became a Champion while in high school for the Voices of LDAYS. Ben’s story was featured in our Annual Report. His openness and honesty is truly remarkable, without further a due I would like to introduce to you Ben Smith…
