Anthony Savonarota

Anthony

Introduction

Anthony Savonarota became a Voices of LDAYR Champion in mid 2017 and started serving as an LDAYR Ambassador from mid 2019 onward. Anthony graduated in June 2019, and since then has worked as a Promotions Team Lead for a Toronto media company, and for two years worked in the Office of a local Member of Provincial Parliament. He currently works in communications and administrative based roles, and strives to have a career in public service.

Anthony continues to both learn kinetically (by doing) and give back to his community by volunteering. Most recently, this includes volunteering at a distress centre hotline, at the dialysis unit of a hospital, and at a homeless shelter. Besides continuing his ambassador role and sharing his lived experience with a learning disability, Anthony performs similar functions in the realm of mental health/addictions as a certified peer supporter, a subject he too has lived experience with, and family members that have gone through similar ordeals/recovery processes. He is currently completing a postgraduate certificate in Volunteer Management from a local college.

Although he no longer volunteers or works in media, outside of work Anthony nonetheless continues to maintain an interest in performing and using it as a hobby. He remains involved in drama by assisting at his local community theatre (although these days in much more of a backstage/stage production capacity) and taking courses in voiceover acting, narration and improv. Anthony will always be touched by every person that’s told him they found his story inspiring, and is forever grateful to the LDAYR for every opportunity they’ve afforded him.
